
CITY PROJECTS:
Plans for 70th Avenue & Valley Avenue (large file- 189 MB)
2008 Street Preservation Project (formerly Overlay) – The project work was accepted
as complete by the Council at the January 27th meeting. The Notice of Completion will
be prepared and it will initiate the final processing work.
70th Avenue/Valley Avenue Corridor Project – The 90% preliminary design plans are
currently being reviewed on the Valley Ave section from 70th Ave to Freeman (Phase 1)
including the 70th / Valley intersection legs. Utility coordination is on-going. Acquisition
of remaining right of way is proceeding. Efforts are directed toward having the project to
bid in May. Final paperwork is being processed for the construction phase of the Wapato
Creek Wetland Mitigation and Stream Relocation Project before the retainage is released.
The project is now in the two-year maintenance phase. Final inspection of the construction
work on the Wapato Creek Culvert Replacement Project was conducted and the
punch list work items are being completed.
20th Street East Reconstruction Project (54th Ave. to 63rd Ave.) – Design work is ongoing
in developing preliminary plans with major emphasis currently on developing the
right of way plans. Location and identification of utility installations required within the
project limits is continuing.
I-5/Port of Tacoma Interchange Project – By Resolution No. 1267, Council authorized
a professional services contract with Berger/ABAM to prepare the Interchange Justification
Report for future improvements at the I-5/Port of Tacoma Road Interchange. The
contract is ready for execution.
Freeman Road LID – The City has halted progress on the Freeman Road LID.
48th Street East LID No. 08-02 – KPG was selected to perform engineering services on
the water and sewer improvements associated with LID 08-02. Council authorized a
professional services contract with KPG by Resolution No. 1281 at the Jan. 27th meeting.
