Posting Bail or Bonds

Bail is accepted 24 hours a day at the Fife jail. If posting bail during normal business hours, Bail must be posted with the Court the charge is out of. If bail is being posted after hours, the Jail will take the bail.

Bail can be posted with cash or bond when authorized by the courts. When cash is posted, it must be in the form of money orders for the full amount. The jail cannot accept cash, checks, or credit cards.
It is up to the court whether or not the person paying the bail will get the money back once the person being bailed out has completed their appearances in court.

Refunds are handled by the court at which the person must appear.

There are many bail bond companies that are authorized to write a bond at the Fife City Jail. They are listed in the yellow pages under “Bail Bonds.” They generally charge 8-15 percent of the bail amount. Their fee for writing the bond is not refundable.

Once bail has been posted, it may take 1-3 hours before the person is released. This will vary depending on the day of the week, time of day, and over all activity in the jail at the time bail is received.

We appreciate your patience.
