Senior Adult Tai Chi

Dolores

Years Instructing:   8 years
Official Training:  I was taught by a Master instructor for about two years.
Why my program works:  By continuing I have found it helps my way of improving my health and the others feel the same.
Funny Fact about me:  Whenever there is a family gathering, or a gathering (of any kind) I will get everybody singing songs even if I do not know the words to the songs..Which is most of the time!

Kidz Love Soccer

Coach Ashley

Years Instructing:   One & ½ Years
Why my program works:  I have been playing soccer since I was ten years old.  I also have been a referee for youth teams all the way up to state level teams.  I coached a 3 & 4 year old competitive team for almost two years, and I coached a 7-year old team for one year.
Why my program works:  Kidz Love Soccer is non-competitive and fun!  The soccer players are taught the unique skills for soccer through imagery based games.  This is awesome because while they are having so much fun they do not realize they are learning so much.  It is also very personal and we try to help each child with their needs.

Why my program works: I don’t force the kids that are terrified of going under water I slowly introduce them to fun games that get them to go under the water.
Funny Fact About Me: When I was little my favorite movie was the Little Mermaid and I told my dad I wanted to be a mermaid and he said, You can’t be a mermaid it’s not possible.” I was angry at him for an hour until he gave candy.

Justin

Years Instructing: 4-coaching swim lessons, 3-lifeguard instructing
Official Training: Swim America Swim Coach with blue card. Red Cross: Lifeguarding, CPR/AED and First Aid certifications. Red Cross: Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard Instructor certifications.
Previous Experience: I was a junior guard and a volunteer swim coach assistant at the Fife Swim Center from the ages of 9-12. I was a deep Lifeguard at Wild Waves for 3 summer seasons.
Why my program works: Swim America coaches teach swimming skills in a very progressive way. We only teach a new skill after the old ones have been thoroughly learned and performed correctly by the swimmers; doing so leads to better and faster stroke development.

Lewis

Official Training: “Swim America” Swim Instructor
Previous Experience: I was a student in the Fife swim lesson program. I also have some brief experience swimming club.
Why my program works: I think the most important aspect of a swim lesson program is the instructors that make it work. By co-teaching with more experienced instructors, our teachers all gain the skills and experience that are critical to helping kids learn.
Funny Fact About Me: I totally miss the old swim lesson program where each level was a different fish. I definitely spent four sessions as a trout…

Alicia

I have been teaching swim lessons for just over a year now.  I am a completive swimmer for King Aquatics Club along with the captain for the Fife High School Girls swim team.  I have grown up taking swimming lessons at Fife Swim Center and it is very fun to now be one of the instructors that I looked up to for all those years.  Teaching the pre-comp kids is my favorite.  It is very fulfilling to watch a swimmer learn how to do breaststroke or butterfly even though they are the hardest skills to master at a young age.

Emily

I have been working at Fife Swim Center for almost 3 years.  I will be leaving in the fall to attend Eastern Washington University, but will be back each summer to teach swimming lessons.  After all this time I really enjoy all levels and cannot just pick one.  I enjoy co-teaching with new instructors and sharing my smile with all the people that I meet at the pool.

Stacey

Years Instructing: 1.5
Favorite Level to Teach: Preschool/Youth Level- 3-Torpedoes!
Favorite Swim Lesson Memory:  When Dylan (student) said "I Love You!"

Andrew

I have been teaching for 10 months, am on the swim team, and am VERY energetic!

Nancy

Years Instructing: 5.5
Official Training: Arthritis Exercise Program Certified, Lifeguarding, and CPR
Why my program works:  I feel the reason my programs works is because I am much older then most of the staff. I am the "grandma" type to the little kids and even to a lot of the staff. It is also because I love what I am doing. It is so much fun watching the children progress through the program and see how happy they are after they have accomplished the levels.
