Passport renewals by mail

Many passport renewals can be done by mail for $110 (forms are available at any passport acceptance agency) as long as all four of the following questions can be answered YES:

  1. Can you submit your most recent passport?
  2. Was your previous passport issued on or after your 16th birthday?
  3. Was your previous passport issued within the past 15 years?
  4. If you have had a name change, can you submit a certified copy of the document (not the original) from the entity that authorized your change of name?

If you answered "Yes"; to ALL these questions, you may process your renewal by mail (on form #DSP-82) for $110. You must be sure to sign this form before mailing. If you can’t answer yes to all these questions, you will need to apply inperson as a first-time applicant, pay the appropriate fees, AND still submit your previous passport.
